BioAlignment facilitates memory reconsolidation through conversation and recalling personal experiences. This process updates and modifies long term memory, enabling clients to shift their undesirable behaviors and reactions.

Memory Reconsolidation

Memory consolidation is the process by which memories are made to persist and survive in long term memory. Memory reconsolidation is the process of retrieving and reactivating a memory, and then consolidating the memory back into long term memory.

Our brain is designed to learn, assimilate new information, and update long term memory over time. Neuroscientists have shown that they can modify long term memory and change undesirable automatic responses and behaviors using memory reconsolidation through noninvasive experiences. Watch Joseph E. LeDoux, an American neuroscientist, explain the concept of memory reconsolidation.

Safe and Sound Protocol

Developed by Dr. Stephen Porges, Distinguished Scientist at Indiana University and Professor of Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina, the Safe and Sound Protocol is a five-day auditory protocol designed to reduce stress and fear.

When our nervous system is in a state of stress or fear, the function of our middle ear muscle shifts to promote hypervigilance; this shift subsequently compromises our ability to process the meaning of human speech. The Safe and Sound Protocol attenuates low frequency sounds to facilitate the processing of human speech and to shift states of stress and fear.

MEET OUR FOUNDER

In 2014, Tom DeLano’s home was burglarized, resulting in one of his children experiencing significant post traumatic stress. As the family researched ways to assist their son, they discovered the field of neuroplasticity — more specifically, memory reconsolidation — and proceeded to implement strategies. Doing so allowed their son to retrieve, reactivate and update his memory of the burglary.

After learning that memory reconsolidation could be utilized for situations beyond post traumatic stress, Tom founded BioAlignment. Since the burglary, he has avidly researched and worked with others on chronic situations and adverse experiences. Prior to launching BioAlignment, Tom collaborated for 20 years with Fortune 500 companies as a management consultant.
